The following guide is provided to Bay Area Mover customers to help them with the moving process from start to finish.
Bay Area Movers VS Bay Area Moving Brokers
There are two ways to buy moving services to help you relocate. You can hire a moving company or hire a moving broker. It is completely up to the one in need of moving services to hire who they feel is best but before any services are purchased, it is best to know the difference between a mover and a moving broker.
A Moving Company
When you hire a moving company, you are hiring the persons that conduct the actual relocation process. They will own their own trucks and trailers as well as all their moving equipment. Most moving companies will send out a foreman or crew member before the move to evaluate the situation before giving the customer an estimate. The estimate is based off the weight of your possessions, the amount of items to ship, and the distance to be traveled.
The mover will make an agreement with the customer and have them sign a Bill of Lading as well as any other pertinent documents. These are binding agreements proving the moving company was hired by the customer for the services listed in the contract. All professional moving companies should carry state licensing and other certifications, including BBB approval.
Moving Brokers
Moving brokers are the men between the customer and the moving company. Brokers don’t own any of the necessary moving equipment or trucks to actually carry out relocation services. However, they provide a simpler, quicker way to find the right mover. They will go through their database and find the most affordable moving companies in your area. They’ll even look for the moving services you prefer and customize your relocation the best they can.
Moving brokers will listen to their customers’ needs and do what they can to make their relocation a satisfactory experience. They are also able to work within your budget and negotiate the cost for moving services so that they can find you the lowest priced moving and storage options. Another perk of a moving broker is that they will only go through reliable, licensed moving companies to find services for their clients.
